Whirl-i-Gig
The Coney Island History Project preserves the New York amusement park's legendary and colorful past by recording the stories of long time residents, archiving historic documents, film and imagery, and sponsoring education programs and exhibits. Whirl-i-Gig designed the Project's web site and built a software system to process their oral history archive, a subset of which is now available on the web site, under grants from the New York City Departments of Cultural Affairs and Youth Development. The site uses Whirl-i-Gig's open source CollectiveAccess software to manage all collections, oral history and georeferenced imagery on the site.
