Whirl-i-Gig
MorphoBank is an innovative web-application enabling groups to conduct very large scale collaborative phylogenetic research over the Internet. Whirl-i-Gig developed all of the underlying components of MorphoBank, including a versatile media database with support for a variety of image, video and sound formats, a high-resolution image viewing and annotation client, a full-featured phylogenetic matrix editor, data publishing tools and data interchange capabilities using the Nexus and SDD file formats. The ongoing project is a collaboration with the San Diego Supercomputing Center administered by Stony Brook University (State University of New York) and funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
